Kenai Health Center
Central Peninsula Hospital’s Kenai Health Center was built as a partnership between the hospital, the State of Alaska Division of Public Health, the City of Kenai and the Kenai Peninsula Borough. This collaboration has allowed for expansion of public health services available in Kenai and has created the opportunity for the hospital to offer diagnostic imaging and lab services closer to our friends and neighbors in Kenai.
Diagnostic Services Include:
Our Kenai Health Center offers state-of-the-art digital mammography that lowers patient exposure to radiation while increasing patient comfort. Regular mammograms are one of the most important ways to check breast health. If you live in Kenai and your doctor orders a screening mammogram, let your physician know if having the test done in Kenai would be more convenient for you.
Our diagnostic equipment in the Kenai Health Center provides the most sophisticated test for Osteoporosis available anywhere. Osteoporosis – the most common human bone disease – occurs when bones deteriorate faster than new bone can be formed, resulting in reduced bone strength, poor bone quality and an increased risk of bone fracture.
The disease often occurs as part of the natural aging process and women are four times more likely to develop the disease than men. A bone densitometry test allows doctors to find out just how much bone mass exits and helps in the diagnosis and treatment of Osteoporosis.
An Electrocardiogram – or EKG- is a noninvasive test that records the electrical activity of the heart. The test, which takes about five to ten minutes, is ordered by a physician in order to help doctors evaluate a patient’s cardiac condition if a heart attack has occurred or to help determine if any part of the heart was damaged, if any irregular heart beats or rhythms are occurring, or to determine if there is a decreased supply of blood and oxygen.
The Kenai Health Center has some of the most advanced x-ray equipment available to patients in Alaska. Let your doctor know if having x-rays taken in Kenai more convenient for you.
A lab draw stations is also available at the Kenai Health Center.
