WOW Ride is February 23rd – Archived

January 8, 2013

It is time to register for the 2013 “Way Out Women” (WOW) snow machine ride benefiting cancer patients throughout the Kenai Peninsula. The group raises money with this annual ride to benefit local oncology patients and the funds are administered by the Central Peninsula Health Foundation.
Riders can sign up individually or as a team and are asked to gather pledges of $100 or more per person. Corporate sponsorship teams of five riders are also available for a contribution of $1,000 which includes recognition in advertising and at the event.

WOW funds are used in a variety of ways including providing transportation to Anchorage for radiation treatment, purchasing needed medications and assistance with the many other financial burdens that come with a cancer diagnosis. While fundraising has topped $50,000 in the past, the need continues to surpass the available resources.

WOW festivities will begin Friday evening, February 22nd, at 5:30 pm at a “Meet and Greet” at Freddie’s Roadhouse, Mile 16 Oilwell Road in Caribou Hills. Riders will gather at Freddie’s Roadhouse again for continental breakfast Saturday, February 23rd, at 9:00 am. The first team will start out of the roadhouse at 11:00 am. Costumes are encouraged and will be rewarded. The course is set up so that all levels of riders can join in the fun. There will be door prizes, the 5th Annual Wild and Wooly Bra contest, silent auction items and other fun events.
