Soldotna, AK – Central Peninsula Hospital is announcing a call for artist exhibition proposals for the newly created River Tower Community Gallery.
The gallery is Central Peninsula Hospital’s newest exhibition space located on the 2nd floor of the River Tower on the hospital campus. This is the first annual call, which will be done once a year to determine the four quarterly exhibitions in the River Tower Community Gallery and offers space of almost 30 feet in length for artists to exhibit their work. Proposals may include solo or group exhibitions, but must meet Central Peninsula Hospital’s Art Mission and all guidelines below.
Central Peninsula Hospital Art Mission:
…to enhance the hospital environment and provide a healing environment for people that represent a wide-range of ages and life experiences – many of whom are facing some severe health challenges. This project seeks to enrich the healing environment with artworks that engage and comfort patients and their families, reinforce a positive working environment for staff, and support health outcomes by integrating curated, purposeful arts to improve patient care and the physical environment
Qualifications: All artists, including emerging, underrepresented, or student artists living in Alaska that are currently practicing their art form/craft are encouraged to apply. Must be over 18 or have written parental consent. 2-D work only at this time. Pieces displayed must have been created in the last three (3) years and must adhere to the Hospital’s Art Mission above.
Selection: Exhibition proposals are thoughtfully selected by the Hospital’s Healing Environment Committee and Art Committee to enhance the patient experience, the healing process, and the community.

Exhibition Proposal: Proposals should be 200 words max and include: what you are proposing, general description of exhibition concept and/or intent, any specific installation or display instructions, how/why pieces were chosen for exhibition, etc.
Work Sample Images: sample work should be cohesive and demonstrate a feasibility to realize the proposal. Files should be titled as follows: LastName_FirstName_1Title.jpg.
Artist Bio: In paragraph form, provide an artist bio (under 200 words). Share some of your artistic accomplishments, inspiration, goals, relevant education, residencies, etc.
Additional Materials: Accompanying visuals or media may be submitted if they support the design or the layout of the proposed exhibition
**NOTE: Please do not bring original artwork to the hospital for review; we will not accept personal submissions

Sept. 22, 2017- Dec. 11, 2017 (Artists will have two days to install their artwork, and two days
