Special Services

CPH offers a variety of special services to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. These special services include the following:

Spiritual Care Services
CPH believes that total patient care demands attention to the spiritual, as well as the physical and emotional needs of each patient. Members of the Spiritual Care staff are available to assist you, whatever your beliefs. Volunteer Chaplains are on call 24-hours a day and a beautiful all-faith Sanctuary is located in the Mountain Tower near the elevator.  Your priest, minister or rabbi is always welcome to visit you while you are here. Please contact a member of the nursing staff for assistance or call the Spiritual Care office directly at 714-4610.

Integrative Therapies
Healing Touch is a relaxing, nurturing energy therapy.  Gentle touch assists in balancing your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.  Healing Touch works with your energy field to support your natural ability to heal.  It is safe for all ages and works in harmony with standard medical care. Ask your nurse for a referral for a complimentary healing touch session by a nationally certified practitioner or call 714-4500.

Therapeutic Massage has many benefits including relaxation, stress reduction, improved circulation and release of tight painful muscles.  With many ailments, massage can help to relieve pain and facilitate healing.  For a consult with a massage therapist, contact our Physical Medicine department at 714-4725.

Therapeutic Suggestion/Guided Imagery:  Therapeutic Suggestion involves relaxation and guided imagery techniques to enhance comfort levels and accelerate the healing process.  The healing sounds of music and voice mix to help make thoughts more peaceful and calming, allowing the body to relax and focus on the healing process.  Contact Spiritual Care for a selection of guided imagery CD's to use while you are a patient.

Letters and packages for patients are delivered each morning. Letters and parcels that arrive after you have been discharged are forwarded to your home. Stamps may be purchased at the front desk and stationary is available in the Care Package gift shop. Outgoing mail may be left at the nurses' station or given to a volunteer.

Flowers & Gifts
Flowers, mylar balloons and gifts are available for purchase from several local florists who provide delivery service to the hospital.  Keep in mind that large plants and flowers are difficult to deliver and remove upon discharge.  For the health of our patients, fresh flowers and live plants are not allowed in Intensive Care patient rooms.  CPH is also a latex-free facility. Please do not bring latex balloons to the hospital.

Newspapers may be purchased at the entrance to the hospital. A limited number of complimentary papers are delivered each morning to the nurses' station.

Notary Public
The services of a notary are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. free of charge to patients. For information call Human Resources at ext. 4772 or dial 0 for the operator.

For the Hearing Impaired
A telecommunications device is available to help hearing-impaired patients or patients who want to communicate with a hearing-impaired relative or friend. Contact the Inpatient Nurse Director or the House Supervisor for this service. Arrangements can also be made for sign language help for a hearing impaired or deaf patient.

The hospital has access to interpreters for a number of foreign languages should a patient require assistance with communication. Please ask for help from a member of the hospital staff.

Wireless Internet/Wired MD
Central Peninsula Hospital is a wi-fi zone.  You may bring your own wireless laptop to access the Internet while in the hospital.  CPH is also a subscriber to Wired MD for patient education purposes.  You may wish to learn more about your diagnosis and treatment through this site using a rolling laptop station while in your room, the computer stations in the Health Resource Library on the main floor, Mountain Tower, or you may access the site from home after you receive your password upon discharge. Ask your nurse for more information.

Game stations
There are freestanding game stations in the Mountain Tower Family Lounge. A Nintendo Game Cube Fun Center on a cart can be brought to the patient room for your use.  Ask your nurse for access to the Fun Center.
