Soldotna, Alaska (April 13, 2016) – Central Peninsula Hospital is extending a “Call for Artists” to Alaskan artists to submit examples of their work for possible purchase or commission, to enrich the healing environment of the River Tower Specialty Clinics Building.
The hospital’s vision is to create a unique healing environment in the River Tower Specialty Clinics Building drawing on the talents of Alaskans. Goals include creating a sense of welcome for all who live in Alaska, a sense of place, and to foster healing. The project aims to enhance the hospital environment and provide a healing environment for people that represent a wide-range of ages and life experiences – many of whom are facing some severe health challenges. This project seeks to enrich the healing environment with artworks that engage and comfort patients and their families, reinforce a positive working environment for staff, and support health outcomes by integrating curated, purposeful arts to improve patient care and the physical environment. The majority of the artwork will be located in the reception/waiting areas of the three-story atrium with a few pieces being of substantial scale.
About the River Tower Specialty Clinics Building at Central Peninsula Hospital
Central Peninsula Hospital is a full-service, acute care, borough-owned hospital that serves the residents and visitors of the Kenai Peninsula. The River Tower Specialty Clinics Building is the newest addition to Central Peninsula Hospital’s campus. The building includes five clinics, as well as the CPH Cancer Center, outpatient imaging, a spine center and endoscopy. Several hospital-owned practices have relocated to their new space and more health services and private practices are expected. River Tower’s public space will also host community events such as the annual health fair, health foundation events and open houses.

Artist applications will be handled through an online application process at the project website: www.cphcallforartists.com. Any questions about the project should be addressed via the website. Applications will be accepted starting on April 13, 2016. Completed applications must be submitted on or before Monday, May 23, 2016 at 5:00 pm PST.
