November 6, 2013

Central Peninsula Hospital announced today that it is among The Joint Commission’s list of Top Performers on Key Quality Measures™ for 2012. The list is contained in The Joint Commission’s 2013 Annual Report on Quality and Safety.
Central Peninsula Hospital was recognized by The Joint Commission for exemplary evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions.

Central Peninsula Hospital is one of 1,099 hospitals in the U.S. earning the distinction of Top Performer on Key Quality Measures which is the top one-third of all The Joint Commission hospitals reporting core measure performance data for 2012. Central Peninsula Hospital has been a Top Performer all three years of the program’s existence.

Of the 1,099 Top Performer hospitals, 424 achieved the distinction for the past two years in a row by sustaining their improvement efforts, and 182 achieved the distinction for the past three years in a row.

“We are thrilled to receive this evidence based recognition for the third straight year,” said Rick Davis, CEO of Central Peninsula Hospital. Davis went on to say “the community should be proud of the hard work and dedication of hospital employees and physicians who provide quality and evidence based care
that is shown to improve a patient’s condition.”

Central Peninsula Hospital was recognized for its achievement in pneumonia and surgery care. The ratings are based on an aggregation of accountability measure data reported to The Joint Commission during the 2012 calendar year.

Hospitals on The Joint Commission’s list met the following criteria: First, each hospital achieved performance of 95 percent or above on a single, composite score that includes all the accountability data for which it reports data to The Joint Commission, including measures that had fewer than 30 eligible cases or patients. Second, each hospital also met a 95 percent performance threshold for every accountability measure for which it reports data to The Joint Commission, excluding measures with fewer than 30 eligible cases or patients.
