2012 Planetree Spirit of Caring Caregiver and Physician Champion Awards Announced - Archived
During National Hospital Week, Central Peninsula Hospital named Fa’ata Stott, CNA, as our 2012 Planetree Spirit of Caring Caregiver and Dr. Jason Lattin, General Surgeon, as the Planetree Physician Champion.
Fa’ata has worked in the Day Surgery Department since 2005, where she has become a respected member of the team. Fa’ata received several nominations. They all acknowledged her compassion, dedication to the safety and comfort of our surgery patients, and her calm, respectful demeanor. According to Dr. Gregg Motonaga, “Fa’ata is the “rock” of Day Surgery. She brings incredible organizational skills to the job and a “can do” attitude.”
Dr. Lattin’s nominations all cited his high-quality patient-centered care. For example, Dr. Lattin has a natural ability to help people feel comfortable and safe when anticipating surgery. He calmly and patiently explains all the details and what to expect of the procedure. He personally follows up with his patients after surgery and will check in on them in other areas of the hospital just to see if there is anything else he can do for them.
Dr. Lattin’s support of dialysis patients at Fresenius Medical Care has been lauded. According to Sandra Blake, RN and Clinic Manager of Fresenius, Dr. Lattin has been invaluable to the Fresenius dialysis patients.
“The patients and staff give him rave reviews. They are treated with dignity and respect. He is easy to talk to, warm, compassionate and caring. He is also very thorough and proactive in resolving even minor issues and concerns.”
Hospital CEO Rick Davis sums it up, “We are pleased to have Fa’ata and Dr. Lattin representing our organization as role models for delivering patient-centered care.”
