 Meet the CPGH, Inc. Board of Directors

The current CPGH Inc. Board of Directors includes the following members:

 

 

Alyson Stogsdill, President

Stogsdill has been employed by the Legislative Affairs Agency since 1988. Prior to that she worked in the travel industry in both Juneau and Anchorage from 1971-1984, working for Alaska Airlines and Totem Travel/Alaska Travel. Alyson has been an American Cancer Society Reach to Recovery volunteer since 1991 and acts as a volunteer trainer and Board member for the Relay For Life. Her other volunteer activities include helping organize the PTA at Redoubt Elementary, serving as a class room volunteer and education teacher for "Our Lady of Perpetual Help" at the Catholic Church, and acting as Lady's group president, Eucharistic Minister. Alyson also has an Associates Degree from Highline Community College in Midway, Washington. Her hobbies include gardening, snow-shoeing and arts and crafts.

 

 

 

Trena Richardson, Vice President

Trena Richardson has lived in the Central Peninsula Area since January of 1973. Ms. Richardson retired from the Kenai Peninsula School District after 29 years, where she taught at Tustumena, Soldotna and K-Beach Elementary Schools.  Her last years with the district she held the position of Principal at Nikiski Elementary and K-Beach Elementary before retiring in June of 2002.  Ms. Richardson is a current member on the City of Soldotna Planning & Zoning Commission and is a past President of the local Kenai Peninsula Administrators Association, and has served on the NEA State Board of Directors and the Alaska State Community Services Commission.  Trena earned her B.A. in Education from the College of Idaho, and her M.A. in Education from the University of Northern Colorado. When not volunteering, Ms. Richardson enjoys spending time with her son, Travis, and his wife Megan, reading, playing golf and traveling to locations such as Australia and South Africa.

   

 

Irv Carlisle, Secretary/Treasurer 

Irv Carlisle is a retired CPA and business owner who was raised on a small dairy farm in Western Washington. Irv is a U.S. Army veteran that served a year in Vietnam before returning to school to complete his studies. In 1970 after graduating with a BA in Accounting from Central Washington University he moved to Anchorage to work for a national accounting firm. In 1974 Irv moved to Soldotna with his wife Carla and two sons to start his own CPA practice. He has been active on many local boards including Central Peninsula Health Foundation, Soldotna Chamber of Commerce, Soldotna Rotary Club, Miss Alaska Pageant, Special Olympics and many others. Irv has been active in Alaska fisheries issues and has been appointed by five different Governors to fisheries boards and committees which included an appointment to the Alaska Board of Fisheries. Irv and Carla are avid gardeners and love the outdoor opportunities that Alaska offers. They are both ardent basketball fans and through the booster club are very involved with the boys and girls programs at Soldotna High School.

   
 

Joe Bujak, MD, FACP

Dr. Bujak is a frequently requested speaker, facilitator and consultant on issues related to healthcare organization - physician relationships, clinical quality and patient safety, and leading and managing transformational change. He is skilled at physician executive coaching, conflict resolution, and improving intra and inter-professional communication. Dr Bujak graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Rutgers University. He received his medical degree from the University of Rochester where he was elected to Alpha Omega

 

   
 

Mark Dixson

Mark Dixson is currently the City Manager for the City of Soldotna. He was formerly the General Services Director for the Kenai Peninsula Borough overseeing human resources and risk management. He moved to Soldotna from Tioga County, a rural county in upstate New York, where he served as County Attorney for 4 years and had a private practice for 17 years. He also served on the Board of Directors for Robert Packer Hospital and for Tioga State Bank. He is currently licensed to practice law in the states of Alaska and New York. He and his wife Maria live in Soldotna. Maria, a former librarian, is a volunteer for CPGH, primarily working at Heritage Place doing story time and other interactive activities. Mr. Dixson is also a member of Rotary.

 

 

 

 Mark Premo

Mark is a Principal in Premo Consulting an independent consulting firm specializing in business, organizational development and change management. He is the fourth generation of his family to live and work in Alaska. He received his Bachelors and Master degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington and is licensed Civil Engineer. Mark has been active in many national and international Boards and is presently Treasurer for the international nonprofit Board Water for People, and past president of the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies. He recently retired from the Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility where he was General Manager for over 20 years. His hobbies include chasing the illusive king salmon and continuous building out of the family property in Sterling.

   

Sal Mattero

Sal Mattero is a retired Human Resources Professional with over 25 years of experience. He grew up in New York City and attended New York University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Personnel and Industrial Relations. Experiences gained from a combined 34 years at both Union Oil Company of California and Agrium, U.S.A., resulted in his holding both Supervisory and Management positions at the Field, Regional, and Corporate levels. Since retirement in 2002, he has served on multiple Boards and Committees, earning him the Kenai Chamber of Commerce's "Community Service Award" in 2008.  He recently completed five years as the President of the Friends of the Kenai Community Library and currently serves as Director of the Kenai Rotary, President of the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank, Our Lady of the Angels Parish Council, and Secretary of the Kenai Community Foundation.  Sal and his wife, Kathleen, have lived in Kenai since 1997. They have two grown sons living in Forest Grove, Oregon.

 

 

 

Gregg Motonaga, MD

Gregg Motonaga, M.D. was raised in Anchorage.  He has a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  Gregg received his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine and participated in the Alaska WWAMI program.  He is a board-certified anesthesiologist and completed a residency in anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital and a fellowship in cardiovascular-thoracic anesthesia at the Mayo Clinic.  He has been the medical director of the Central Peninsula Hospital Anesthesia Department since 2007.

 

 

 

Judith Salo

Judith Salo has been a resident of the Kenai Peninsula since 1969. She grew up in Minnesota and began her professional career working for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District as an Administrative Assistant. After completing her Bachelor's degree she began a twenty-year teaching career in elementary education. She retired as a teacher and was appointed in 1990 to fill House District 9 seat. In 1992, she was elected to the Alaska State Senate, representing Kenai, Nikiski, Girdwood, and South Anchorage. Her standing committee appointments were Labor and Commerce, Health, Education and Social Services. Ms. Salo worked from 1998-99 as the Development Director for the North Pacific Volcano Learning Center and in 2000 she accepted a position as the Executive Director of the Alaska State Community Service Commission. She has also served for six years on the Alaska Children's Trust, promoting the prevention of child abuse and neglect by granting local organizations funding for prevention projects. Other volunteer work includes eight years on the BP Community Advisory Committee whose function was to advise BP management on charitable contributions to non-profit organizations.

 

 

 

Pete Sprague

Pete Sprague arrived in Alaska in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the State University of New York at Albany, a certificate to teach secondary education, and a sense of adventure. He was a commercial fisherman in Cook Inlet prior to a career as a letter carrier in Soldotna. After leaving the postal service, Pete became active in local government, serving on Soldotna City Council and the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly. He has also served on a variety of boards, including the Alaska Municipal League, the National Association of Counties, Kenai Peninsula College Council, the KPB Economic Development District, and the committee that successfully worked to design, find a suitable location and build public support for the state-run youth detention facility in Kenai. He enjoys a wide variety of outdoor activities, including running, skiing, and kayaking.

 

 

 

Loren Karp Weimer

Loren Karp Weimer is full time Researcher and Science Program Advisor in the Division of Gastroenterology and the Inflammatory Bowel and Immunobiology Research Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. She has been involved in research for nearly thirty years. While telecommuting most of the time, she continues to travel to Los Angeles from the Kenai Peninsula for her work. She has a Masters Degree from the University of California and her Bachelors is from Illinois State University. In the very early stages of her career, Loren served as a Marketing Assistant for U.S. Corporate Health Management and was a senior Public Analyst for the UCLA School of Medicine, where she participated in research on internal medicine and health services. In 1984, she joined The Inflammatory Bowel and Immunobiology Research Institute, where her efforts are focused on academic gastroenterology/immunology and hospital based, basic, translational and clinical research. She is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association. She has published at least 27 chapters, articles and books. Her most recent book, edited in conjunction with her two long term collaborators Stephan Targan and Fergus Shanahan came out in 2010 and is entitled: "Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Translating Basic Science to Clinical Practice."
