All instructor courses require the candidate to first complete the e-Learning Instructor Course. This is the official, self-directed, e-learning program from the American Heart Association® (AHA). This e-learning product uses video and online scenarios to present realistic classroom situations. Successful completion of this module, paired with discipline specific course, monitoring and Training Center affiliation meets the requirements for the issuing of an AHA Instructor card. Once this is complete the instructor candidate attends a classroom course to review important discipline specific PALS content, testing and evaluation of learning. The instructor candidate is required to teach selected lecture material and grade students going through a PALS or ACLS course while being course monitored.
Target Audience: PALS Instructor Course is designed for healthcare professionals who are experienced PALS providers and are interested in teaching PALS to others. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units.
