University of New England to Conduct Health Assessment Survey for Central Peninsula Hospital - Archived
Central Peninsula Hospital will be conducting an area wide study to better understand the health needs of Central Kenai Peninsula residents. The study must include input from the broad interests represented in the service area.
Earlier this year, Central Peninsula Hospital announced a competitive request for proposals to conduct a comprehensive community health needs assessment. The University of New England’s Center for Community and Public Health with a team including Market Decisions, a survey research firm, were selected.
Later this month, a telephone and mail survey to assess health status as well as perception and use of health care services will begin with 600 randomly selected households throughout the hospital service area. Some residents will be contacted by phone while others will receive mail surveys. If contacted, your participation in this study is very important because your household will represent many others in your community. All information provided will be kept strictly confidential.
Central Peninsula Hospital CEO, Rick Davis said, “Your response to this survey is very important because it provides us with a current snapshot of the health care needs of our service area residents. We will use this information to tailor the delivery and type of health services offered in a way that will help improve the overall health of our community. If you are offered an opportunity to participate in the survey, please take the time to complete it.”
The comprehensive study enables Central Peninsula Hospital and other health officials to effectively develop new or expanded resources, and plan future health services for the Central Peninsula area. Results of this study are extremely important to the strategic and master planning processes at Central Peninsula Hospital.
Central Peninsula Hospital last conducted a Community Health Needs Assessment in late 2009. Federal law requires a new assessment to be completed every three years.
Results from the survey are expected to be available for public use in early 2013. The final report will be available on the Central Peninsula Hospital website in January of 2013.
