A hospital is more than a place where people go to heal, it is a part of the community that fosters health and represents hope. From providing treatment and comfort to the sick, to welcoming new life into the world, hospitals are central to a healthy and optimistic community. That’s why the 2012 National Hospital Week theme is “Making Miracles Happen.”

“National Hospital Week, first and foremost, is a celebration of people, “Rick Davis, CEO of Central Peninsula Hospital, said. “We’re extremely proud of each member of our staff and we recognize the important role they play in extending a sense of trust to our patients and our communities by exemplifying our values of compassion, integrity, respect, service, stewardship and excellence.”

This year we are bringing a national health leader, Zonya Foco, RD to share “The Power of One Good Habit” with our community and our staff on Tuesday, May 8th from 7-9 p.m. in the Denali Conference Room. Please RSVP to Jan Johnson at 714-4724 to attend. There is a $5 charge at the door. Zonya is recognized as America’s Nutrition Leader and is the creator of the “Diet Free” program CPH has adopted. Nursing continuing education credits will be awarded for her presentation.
A Blessing of the Pets will be held at Heritage Place, our continuing care facility, on Thursday, May 10th from 1:30 to 2:30 in the outdoor garden patio. Some of our pet partners will be paying visits to our residents after the blessing.

Our Nurses Day Celebration will be held on Friday, May 11th from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Denali Room to celebrate the vital role nurses play in our organization and in our community. Community nurses are encouraged to attend!

A “Poised for the Future” themed community open house will be held on Saturday, May 12th from 1-3 pm and will showcase our new operating room with state-of-the-art surgical technology, our Women’s Imaging Center, and plans for our cancer treatment center. Take this opportunity to meet members of our medical staff and Board of Directors and learn more about what we are actively doing to poise Central Peninsula Hospital for the future of healthcare on the peninsula.
