CPH Begins Hospitalist Program for Inpatient Care - Archived
Central Peninsula Hospital has selected Sound Physicians, a comprehensive hospitalist organization to provide healthcare to inpatients at Central Peninsula Hospital beginning October 1, 2010. Sound Physicians is a physician-founded and led hospitalist organization committed to driving improvements in quality, efficiency and satisfaction for inpatient hospital care.
A hospitalist is a physician specially trained to care for patients while they are hospitalized and who focuses on caring for special needs of patients in the hospital setting.
“We began the program this summer with a hospitalist providing weekend coverage for several of our family physicians,” said Ryan Smith, CEO for Central Peninsula Hospital. “Having a hospitalist on-site has cut down the time it takes to admit and discharge patients and provides round the clock on-site physician care. Staff and patient feedback has been very positive in this initial period,” he added. “Beginning October 1st the majority of inpatient care on the Medical Surgical and Intensive Care units at CPH will be provided by hospitalists. Our Obstetrics providers and some of our family physicians will continue to see their own patients while in the hospital,” shared Smith.
