Dr. Reyes

Michael L. Reyes, MD is a Fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who joined Central Peninsula Bone & Joint Center in August of 2017. Dr. Reyes was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but has lived in several cities around the United States, including Los Angeles, San Francisco and Honolulu. He has also lived in Manila. Dr. Reyes credits his parents as his biggest inspiration over his career. They are both physicians that specialize in physical medicine and rehabilitation. "I grew up seeing how their work took patients from injury and disease to functional improvement. This helped me realize how gratifying it is to have a role in someone's healing. Their passion for their work was infectious" said Reyes.

Dr. Reyes has 22 years of orthopeadic surgery experience and has performed over 3,000 joint replacements. He stays up-to-date on current technological advances in the field by attending national joint replacement specialty conferences twice a year. While at Straub Clinic & Hospital in Honolulu, HI, he served as Chief of the Bone & Joint Center. In addition, Dr. Reyes served as Director of the Joint Replacement Center while at Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates & Seton Medical Center in Daly City, CA.  He has been involved in innovations, such as computer navigation, MIS (minimally invasive surgery), quadriceps-sparing total knee replacement surgery, and the direct anterior total hip replacement surgery. He is subspecialty trained to manage complex hip & knee reconstructions, including revision surgeries (i.e. patients with persistent pain, instability, infection, or prosthetic loosening/wear after surgery). Treatment is accomplished through a variety of different procedures including surgical and medical procedures.

Dr. Reyes is excited to be a part of the peninsula community.  He loves hiking, stand-up paddling, and scuba diving, and is now looking forward to seeing all that the Alaska outdoors has to offer.  He is passionate about volunteerism and is an avid adventurer & world traveler.  He is thrilled to now call Alaska home.
