Health care is an extraordinary world.
Each day brings new faces, new hopes and new breakthroughs. We
witness the first breaths of our smallest patients. We see
remarkable triumphs over the ravages of illness. We’re there when
one step for an ailing patient becomes a giant leap for medicine.
It’s Care You Count On. People You
Trust.
This inspiring phrase has been selected
as the theme for National Hospital Week 2007. It describes the
unique position we hold in the community as we play an active part
in providing quality care right here at home. There’s never been a
more wonderful time to be a caregiver. This May, we have a wealth of
reasons to celebrate and we invite you to join with us as we
demonstrate the unity, enthusiasm and cooperative spirit found in
hospitals across the nation.
This traditional health care event
unites hospitals, health care workers and communities from coast to
coast, building pride in the giving nature of care. Today, according
to the American Hospital Association’s Hospital Statistics, nearly
6,000 hospitals and over five million dedicated staff members serve
as beacons of hope in their communities.
For one week, May 6-12, the eyes of the
nation will be focused on the health care community. Here on the
peninsula, the celebration focuses on the amazing care givers at
Central Peninsula Hospital. It is a welcome spotlight that will
allow us to showcase our very best. Together, we’ll make sure you
can continue to count on people you trust for years to come.
Please plan to attend a National
Hospital Week special Dine and Discuss, featuring Dr. Stephen Levy,
addressing Dying in America, “The Illusion of Control.” Dr. Levy is
the Course Director of Medical Ethics and Public Health at Lake Erie
College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dine and Discuss will be held May
10th in the Denali Conference Center downstairs in the
hospital’s Mountain Tower, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The cost is $10.
