Central
Peninsula General Hospital was pleased to have the
opportunity to sponsor hockey at the recent Arctic Winter
Games and equally pleased that the hospital events went so
well.
CPGH kicked
off the Games with a successful pin-trading party, which
nearly 50 people attended. The hospital and Safe Kids
handed out pins to all who attended, giving them something
with which to trade for other pins. The most aggressive
traders turned out to be under the age of 10. They fiercely
negotiated for the pins that they wanted and everyone seemed
to have a good time.
CPGH and
Safe Kids held events at both 7:30 pm hockey games on Monday
and Friday night which featured Safe Kids. In addition to
watching great hockey, spectators were given the opportunity
to enter a drawing to win a free helmet. Two contestants
under the age of 14 were
drawn during each period break and asked a safety question.
All the young contestants answered correctly and won new
bike, hockey, snow machine or ski helmets. Rascal Raven
assisted with the questions and then, shot CPGH shirts into
the audience using an air gun on loan from Hutchings
Chevrolet.
The events
were all designed to enhance the hospital’s presence in the
community and showcase the Safe Kids program, as well as to
show support for the athletes of the Games. All in all, it
was wonderful to host so many countries and athletes in our
community and Central Peninsula General hospital is proud to
have taken part. |
