Kenai Peninsula - It’s time,
once again, to register for the Way Out Women annual snow
machine ride.
This year’s event is scheduled
for March 4, 2006. “What an opportunity this is to enjoy the
outdoors,” WOW Ride coordinator Kathy Lopeman says. “Everyone
can enjoy their chosen sport of snow machining and help those in
our communities who are fighting this battle.”
All funds raised on the ride
stay here on the Peninsula and go directly to help friends,
family and community members with cancer. The Central Peninsula
Health Foundation will be administering funds through the
Oncology/Infusion Center at Central Peninsula General Hospital.
The WOW entry fee includes a
continental breakfast, goody bag and a limited edition t-shirt
as well as a chance to win prizes and ride the new Polaris
sleds. Lopeman says, however, that the best part is the good
company. “We just have a lot of fun and
everyone seems to appreciate the opportunity to have a great
time and provide real help for cancer patients at the same
time.”
In 2005, WOW raised over
$26,000 to help cancer patients from ages eight to eighty.
Fighting cancer is a tremendous battle, taxing all the resources
of many patients, both financial and emotional. With the funds
raised by the WOW ride, Lopeman says, CPGH can at least ease the
financial burden.
Hope to see you there.
