Individualized
assessments determine the length of stay and intensity of service.
All patients are assessed by their family physician who provides
clearance for admission to determine if medical detoxification is
required.
The program is well supported by the medical
community. Four Soldotna physicians were directly involved in
planning for the facility -- Marguerite McIntosh, MD, Gonzalo
Fraser, MD, John Kasukonis, DO and Marcus Deede, MD.
Clients examine and work on their lifestyle,
relationships, skills and attitudes through a combination of
individual and group sessions. The treatment team includes a
multi-disciplinary professional staff consisting of Certified
Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors and Counselor Assistants,
Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Bachelor Level Counselors, and Night
Monitor/Cooks.
The Serenity House Treatment Center embraces
families. The Family Program increases the family's understanding of
addictions. Families gain in-depth, insight into the process of
treatment and recovery. Clients develop an awareness of their
strengths in all areas of their lives and learn to build on these
strengths as a means to recovery.
An aftercare/continuing care program is necessary to
link clients to community support systems to include continued
counseling for unresolved family and personal problems,
participation in AA, Al-Anon, NA and other community resources. We
further believe that continued effective treatment requires on-going
internal program evaluation of both the treatment process and its
outcome.
Services for the new center will be provided on a
fee for service basis. Financial assistance can be arranged.
The Joint Commission on The Accreditation of
Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) now accredits the Program; which is
recognized by most major insurance carriers. State of Alaska Office
of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse will license the facility. The Center
will comply with all applicable codes and regulations and be
maintained at a level consistent with Central Peninsula General
Hospital standards.
Special acknowledgement to the CPGH Administration,
CPGH Inc., Board of Directors and Medical Staff, the Central Kenai
Peninsula Hospital Service Area Board, and the Kenai Peninsula
Borough Assembly for their support in providing this important
service to our community.
