This powerful
equipment uses a magnet and radio frequency waves to produced
detailed images of any area of the body. It is innovative technology
used for visualization, diagnosis and treatment planning of cancer,
diabetes, heart and vascular disorders and other diseases.
The MRI features a
bore opening of nearly 2.3 feet in diameter. It produces higher
resolution results while allowing patients to keep their head
outside of the magnet during most procedures. For head scans, there
is almost one foot of free space between a patient's head and the
magnet.
The large opening
allows technologists to accommodate larger persons and those
patients who experience anxiety or claustrophobia, while not
sacrificing the image results. We offer patients who are very
claustrophobic, the option of I.V. sedation with a physician’s
order.
In preparation for
the procedure you’ll be asked a series of questions regarding
previous surgeries in which Ferro-magnetic material may have been
placed in your body. You’ll also be asked to remove all jewelry and
any articles of clothing that may interfere with the image. The
procedure requires that you lie completely still. The short time
required will vary with each procedure.
Staff
The
MRI department has two full-time technologists who are registered by
the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and both have an
advanced certification/registration in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Hours of Operation
The MRI
department provides services Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am
until 6:00 pm for scheduled examinations

All
examinations can be ordered by the patient (with a physician’s
