How long has Central Peninsula General Hospital been in operation?
In June 2000, Central Peninsula General Hospital celebrated its 30th anniversary. The hospital has been in operation since 1971.

When was the last time the hospital expanded?
The last major expansion was in 1986 when the Emergency Department and a wing for the Family Recovery Center were added. In 1990 the hospital expanded to add a CT Scanner. In 1999 there was an additional expansion for an MRI.

How many employees does CPGH have?

The hospital currently has approximately 415 employees.

How many physicians practice at the hospital?

There are 42 physicians on the active medical staff. When you include courtesy staff the number goes to approximately 98 physicians.

What impact does the hospital have on the economy of the area?

CPGH is one of the state’s top 100 employers. We are one of the largest employers in the area with a payroll of $20 million. CPGH has a very positive impact on the local economy, as the majority of dollars are spent in, and stay in, the community.

Who owns and manages the hospital?
The Kenai Peninsula Borough owns the hospital. The hospital is managed by a nonprofit, local governing board, CPGH, Inc.
